Note: The Real MVP
We were so tired. Living in the haze of caring for a newborn, not sure what we were doing or if we were doing it right. Jack had what they call "witching hour" where every night from 7-10 our lives turned into utter chaos. But that night, you came home from work, told me it would be ok, and grabbed your guitar. We started singing "With You" (a Chris Brown song from college) and just like that, the crying stopped. And you and I - we looked at each other and then at our son, and we started to laugh. And what was a moment drenched in stress and chaos and tears turned into a moment I will never forget - our new little family singing outdated hip hop songs in our living room.
And it's not just the way you turn stress into peace, or sadness into joy, but it's the way Jack looks at you like you are a superhero come to life. It's the way he kicks wildly when you walk in the door after work. The way he wants to be by your side in the mornings when you brush your teeth or shave your beard. It's the way you love us well - both Jack and me - not because you feel you have to, but because you genuinely want to. You're just that kind of man.
I loved celebrating you this weekend. Happy Fathers Day, Cody! Jack and I love you so much.
