Dock A Tot + Ollie Swaddle
 Covered Goods

It's crazy that next week Jack will be two months old + we will be 2/3 through with what they call the "Fourth Trimester." When I was pregnant, I scoured every Mama Blog, Mama Facebook Group + Pinterest source out there to find out the things I absolutely had to have during this time. I ended up with a ton of gadgets, equipment, clothes, etc. but there have been a few items that I use every single day + literally could not live without. If you're expecting, a Mama to a newborn or going to a baby shower anytime soon, here's the items that I have found to be essential these first few weeks with Jack:

  • DockATot: Jack is a cuddler. I love that, but after a week solid of never being able to put him down, I was starting to get a bit worn out. I love to snuggle too, but sometimes you need a minute to make lunch, or take a shower, and this is when I decided to buy the DockATot. I had heard about it while I was pregnant, but I was reluctant to spend that amount of $ on what looked like a really nice pillow. Well, folks, it is so worth it. When we first started using it, I was finally able to put Jack down during his naps. We also were able to use it to safely co-sleep during the first month + then easily transition Jack to his crib. The way the Dock holds him helps him to feel cuddled + secure. I also love that I can move it to the kitchen island, the sofa or to the Grandparents' house + Jack will always have the consistency of naps + bedtime in the same bed.
  • Ollie Swaddle: Jack has loved to be swaddled since day one. However, I am not the expert swaddler my husband is. When you are having to re-swaddle after each diaper change in the middle of the night, it's nice to have something quicker than a standard blanket, and also more secure. The Ollie is a life-saver. It holds Jack's arms in perfectly so he doesn't startle himself awake. It's also fool proof, and I can quickly + perfectly swaddle Jack even in a daze at his 2 AM diaper change.
  • Covered Goods: I am obsessed with the Covered Goods nursing cover! It's so multi-functional + super cute. I can use it while out + about, or even when company is over to nurse Jack. It's super lightweight so Jack doesn't get hot, and it's really easy for me to put on. I also love that it triples as a carseat cover + shopping cart cover. I haven't used it for shopping yet, but I constantly use it on Jack's carseat when we're running errands + I want to keep him protected from germs + touches from strangers. Another plus is that you can wear it as a scarf + it's adorable!
  • Solly Wrap: I think this is my number one must have item. Like I said, Jack is a cuddler. He loves to be close to Mama + Daddy, and I love that. The Solly has been a total game changer for our family. I will wrap him at least for one nap a day. He gets that close cuddling time he craves, and I get to bond with him while working on the computer, doing laundry, etc. We recently have started taking all of our neighborhood walks in the Solly. Jack loves it because he can look around + see more than he can in the bassinet, and I love it because actually, it's a great work out walking the neighborhood with a 12 pound baby strapped to your chest! I will buy this for all of my close friends + family that have a baby + I will probably buy more for myself! It's amazing + I'm so thankful I had this from the beginning with Jack.

Those are my top four favorite items that I have been using with Jack so far! They have helped me so much in the crazy transition that is new motherhood. I'll be sharing a post soon on Jack's favorite items because yes, even a seven week old has preferences...lots of them!
